There are no restrictions - it could be any.
Data source and its format
There are no restrictions - FCC, USGS NED, NOAA GLOBE, SRTM or any other (including your legacy systems).
Data storage format
There are no restrictions - MS SQl Server, Oracle, MySQL, or any other database or custom format.
